A little bit about us...
HoloHolo adventures is head-quartered in beautiful Hilo, Hawai'i and is operated by husband and wife team, DeWaine and Jane Tollefsrud. Both Jane and DeWaine are fascinated by the wonders of our wild earth, and during their 30+ years of marriage, have enjoyed many exciting adventures around the world.
Your escort, DeWaine, has been an interpretive naturalist guide and educator- both in and out of the classroom- for nearly three decades. He has led eco-oriented, family-friendly tours in Alaska, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and now Hawai'i. A member of the National Association of Interpreters (NAI), DeWaine has a special talent of being able to engage people of all ages. He is an expert at sharing his knowledge and appreciation of our incredible world with others.
In the summer months, DeWaine can sometimes be found in Alaska where he has been a naturalist guide for whale watching and bear viewing adventures. During the summers of 2012 and 2013 he was a guide for the Disneynature film crew for"Disneynature Bears.” In addition, DeWaine has guided film crews from the BBC, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.
Jane is ambidextrous in two careers, as a production/tour manager, and as a professional educator. She is a “paperwork queen” who is also an elementary school teacher, science specialist, and environmental education curriculum designer. Jane has dedicated her life to helping people learn about and connect with the natural world, in hopes that, together, we can protect our planet for our children, and future generations.
